Hello! Thank you for visiting my website, here is a little bit about me, my painting process, and why I enjoy it so much.

I am completely self taught and have been painting for about 12 years now. initially it was as a therapeutic activity after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

I began with a cheap canvas and paints, just tentatively exploring an activity I hadn't tried since childhood. I initially made abstract shapes and patterns, but was immediately hooked on the bright colours and how they changed my mood.

As you can see from the examples below, I gradually I became a little more confident and my paintings showed a little more form, while still being quite loose and abstract.

One day I decided to outline the shapes in black to see what it looked like. It's funny because I can clearly remember a specific occasion in primary school when my teacher asked me "Why do you outline everything in black? It spoils your paintings!" I must have been about 9 years old. So clearly, little did I know, its always been lurking somewhere in me!

Anyway, from that point on people started asking me to paint a picture for them and really, it's just grown from there.

Now, I love what I do, and the joy I get from seeing people smile and say how it genuinely brightens their mood is immeasurable.

Children seem to be especially drawn to the bright colours and I'll sign off with my greatest compliment which was from a little girl of about 8, who came into an exhibition with her grandmother. The girl turned to her and said;

"Nanny, if I'm ever sad, I want you to bring me in here."

An example of the progression of my painting style.

An early painting using very abstract shapes and bright colours.

The progression to finding more form, but remaining quite loose and abstract.

Once I did this there was no going back!
